November 26

Mikey and a couple elves decorating the yard
I have all my helpers trimming the tree

I think they did a great job
I decided over the summer, this year I was going to make everyone a new Christmas stocking.
No more ugly fuzzy red ones that are falling apart. I went out to the sewing room every night for two weeks and they are finally done.( I was dragging at the end, they all started looking the same. )Just kidding. It was so fun. It was a lot different then making a quilt thats for sure. I sat all the holiday fabric out on the cutting table and one by one they got to pick "their own colors". I embroidered names on them and the kids were so excited watching them get completed. Today we hung them up.

Happy Birthday to you!!

November 13

Mike asked me to make a quick baby quilt for someone who had recently had a
baby boy. So I went through my fabric and a couple of hours later.....came up with this. I think it's cute.
Not fancy, but she was thrilled.

November 1

Today Kassadie went to her routine cardiology appointment.
Next door to her doctor's office is the quilt store.
When they got home,
Mike surprised me again with a new machine.
( I have yet to buy a machine myself, haha)
This one has a learning curve?????
So just like I tell the kids when they are learning
something new. Practice, practice, practice.
I just wish there were more hours in a day.
Wish me luck!

October 30

My first appliqued quilt top. The Dresden Plate.
Usually made with 30's reproduction fabric.
But I chose Christmas.
Mike's still has to quilt it.
Mike's quilting.

I just loved this fabric.
The End!

This is Miss Kellie's BIG project. She's hand stitching the Mona Lisa.
Kellie is soooooo talented.
I wish I had a fraction of her gift.
What a little artist.
She will have a wonderful quilt when it's completed.
We will all treasure.

October 29

I bought Kylene a new bag.
Some how it went from purse to emergency preparedness.
Gosh....She makes me so proud.

October 18

We have a new 9 year old.
Happy Birthday Keegan!

Quilting Room- finally done

Sew....Where have we been the last 2 months?
Take a walk down the
new entry from the family room......
You'll see!!!!
 OUR NEW QUILTING ROOM
Isn't it wonderful?
We are beyond happy..It is such a fun room,
everyone just migrates out here to hang out now.
This is my sewing station
Mike's long arm machine
The view walking in from the slider.
The sewing machine Kate is using.
My extra machine for using and a nice big counter
for laying out fabric. Did you notice the black wall?
It's my design wall. It holds my quilt block as they are
pieced. I pin my quilt blocks on it as they are sewn,
to have a visual of the quilt as it progresses.
Design walls are usually white. But this is why mine
is not.

Mike: Why white?
Me: Umm... they just are????
Mike: But you quilt mainly pastels and white, you'll never see the blocks
Me: Oh...
Mike: Why not black?
Me: Umm... Hey Mike,  I got an idea, how about black?
Mike: Ya think!

Gee.... he thinks of everything!
 The cutting station.
 Just another view.

My serger and a sewing station for Kellie and Kendall.

(In case you were wondering the room is 20x26.)

Mike has been doing long arming on quite a few
charity quilts and just got his 1st long arm customer.
I am so thankful Mike gave up his garage for all
of us.
Now Kate, Kellie and Kendall are sewing daily too.
I've got a couple more little ones in training and soon they'll be quilting away.
Hope you enjoyed my little tour.

August 16th

The room is ready for texture and paint. I took a picture standing in the sewing room looking at the house where my new hallway is being built. He actually got it enclosed and is putting up sheet rock tomorrow. We are getting close!!!

August 16th

I spy with my little eye......Deer from my front porch. And guess who came back to see me? My little buddy the Hummingbird. Look close, you'll see him.

August 16th

Finally, I know. I was posting a lot then....I started school planning, Kylene started school and Mike is trying so hard to get the sewing room done.

School this year:Kylene  - Started Cosmetology School
                           Karlie    - 11th grade
                           Kevin    - 10th grade
                           Kellie    - 7th   grade
                           Kendall - 6th   grade
                           Kurtis    - 6th  grade
                           Kye       - 5th  grade
                           Keegan - 4th  grade
                           Kassadie-4th  grade
                           Kayna    -3rd  grade
                           Kody     - 2nd grade
Ms.Rossi brought our school supplies, these awesome scooter boards and some yummy snacks.

Kylene was making dinner the last several months, oh how I was thankful and enjoying dinner each and every night. But her new school schedule is 9:30 to 5:30 plus commute time to town. So I'm not use to her being gone, it's hard to see one of babies leave the nest like that. I'm so proud of her, but miss her a lot during the day. She's learning so much. I started making dinner again. So this is a favorite dinner around here, Chicken Chile Enchilada Casserole. We put the ruler next to the tray so you could see OUR family size. Haha. It's a standard 12" ruler. See the disposable tray. I hate dishes too.*smile*

HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY
 KYLENE!!!

WE LOVE YOU!

Sewing Room:
Mike finished putting 3 walls of siding on. The last wall, is the wall that attaches the house and sewing room together with the new hallway. We are leaving the garage doors up on the outside where they were originally(if I made any sense?), we both like the look of them. So he studded the interior wall behind them too. I think the next thing is the roof and/or at the same time the new hallway. I'm not sure?? It's all gonna get done, so I don't really think it matters:)

July 18

Mike and the kids went to the bow shop today, they were gone most of the day. He started on the siding this evening.

After I took the siding photo, I went over and sat at the picnic table with Mike. We got a little visitor.
I grabbed the camera hoping I could catch a quick photo. I'm so glad they turned out. Awwwww......pretty.

Windows in  (only took a pic of the one)
And the siding was delivered, it's sitting on a pallet by the driveway.

July 16

Today was finally the day. Concrete day that is! This is going to be our *finished* floor. Mike wants to have a polished look to it, so we need to wait 4 weeks for him to be able to bring the polishing machine in. I think it will be a neat look. I know it will be a great floor for any messes that we will make in there. I don't have to worry about glue, paint or etc.....

As I'm posting this Mike is measuring the walls to order the siding..scratch that, he just came in and told me it's ordered now and will be delivered tomorrow morning. YAY!!! Last night he cut the windows and slider openings, we're still hoping to get this thing done before school starts:) It's kinda rough looking now, but it's gonna be a beauty.  More later...
