Kassadie Update

We would like to thank one of our loyal blog followers, Donna & Family. It was such a nice surprise to receive your card and gift in the mail for Kassadie. She loved it. That was extremely kind of you.
Kassadie can now put a little weight on her leg and open her grasp a little more. This is such a sloooooow process. We are hoping she will be home in time for the 4th of July, but................
we will see. It feels like, hurry up.... and wait.

Kassadie Update

We had a meeting today with her doctor, p/t and o/t. We talked about her goals she needs to meet in order to come home. She is starting to use a walker, but her right arm gives out and she falls. They do not want her to get hurt at home falling, since she takes a blood thinner medication. So we need to get stronger and she needs to be able to go from a sitting position to standing all on her own. She is not working as hard as she was at first, she seems to have gotten a little bit of an attitude, she is tired of being there. I so understand. We hope to have her home in 2-3 weeks. That seems so far away, since the last three and a half weeks have been soooooo long without her. I don't know if I have mentioned this before, Kassadie is at a childrens hospital 2 1/2 hours drive (one way) away. Mike has been driving this daily. Friday and Monday are worse it a total of 6 hours because of commute traffic. He said today he put 4,500 miles on the car since she has been in the hospital. Keegan misses her terribly, he is always saying"MOMO".(Her nickname). They are only 35 days apart. We have always thought of them as twins. They really do have that kind of bond. They even get to talk on the phone. How cute is that?

Kassadie update

Kassadie is still in the hospital. She is starting to move her leg and arm. Rash is clearing up, but now she has a some type of cold or flu. We don't know how much longer she will be there, but we hope to have her home soon. We all miss her so very much.

Kassadie Update

Well good news at last.... She moved her right arm some today! She could hold a game card in her hand too! And no more IV.
She is still in ICU, although they say tomorrow is the day for going upstairs to P/T rehab therapy. Once there, they said it will still be 2 weeks or more.
She also developed a rash. It is believed to be caused by one of her medications. They are giving her Benadryl to help with the itching.
Her mood was good today. She is not sleeping very well, with all lights and noise going on all night. She slept well last night with the Benadryl. She was much more comfortable not being so itchy.
We are all getting through this........taking day by day.
More tomorrow, I'm off to bed.
