 Christmas

So lets catch up......

Last summer was....well...let's say I've had better. I went to the dermatologist to have a
bump removed from my forehead. It had been there for years. I finally went in and he
said he thought it was a form of skin cancer. He took a biopsy and sent me home. I went
back a couple of weeks later and had a 1" x 3" section removed from my forehead. And
yes, I had (past tense) a huge forehead. I spent the next 3 weeks waiting for them to
call back and let me know they had clear margins. In other words, did they get it all.
Meanwhile the incision is healing well. I finally get the call. The Doctor called me
and said "I apologize for taking so long but, I wanted to make absolute certain before
I called you. They could not find any cancer cells. I've worked with this lab before, I called
them myself and asked them to check again. They spliced everything they had left
and continued to find nothing. I can't explain it, but sometimes this just happens.
I want to sleep at night knowing we were absolutely all clear before I
called you."
So a little stress, but in the end all is well. And my forehead healed. I have a scar
hidden in a age related "faint, fine line".*wink, wink*
The end of summer also brought good and bad. The good was celebrating our
25th wedding anniversary. Mike is the best man ever. And then my dad passed away.
Mom passed away in 2007 and so now life is...just different.
Then school started :
Karlie: senior
Kevin: junior
Kellie   8th
         Kendall/Kurtis: 7th
Kye:         6th
             Keegan/Kassadie: 5th
  Kayna:       4th
Kody: 3rd

October we got clearance for Kassadie to go to the cabin. Yahoo.
If you don't remember we bought a cabin up the hill about 45 minutes from us
in November 2011. We had plans to completely remodel it. But just after escrow closed
Kassadie was due for heart surgery. So we waited to start. After her surgery they told us
she could not go to the cabin due to the elevation. So the cabin has sat and waited.
When she was given the "she's ready". Mike and the kids jumped in. I'm pretty sure
the fireplace is the only thing that wasn't replaced. The skills the kids learned were
amazing and they even built a tree fort. We go up at least once a week, although with
our drought this year it snowed only once. Sad.
Then Christmas came and we had a huge dinner on Christmas Eve and I packed
dinner and pies for us to take to the cabin the next day. We got up opened gifts and then
headed up the hill. And we had a great Christmas day at the cabin. Without snow. I
think it was 60 something so they played out the whole time. Very nice.
January the kids went to the State Archery Shoot. The scores aren't in yet.
My sewing has been small projects, I've done over 100 zipper pouches for a church
charity and a couple scrap quilts as well. A friend has asked me to make a quilt for
a local charity raffle in April. I need to pick some fabrics and a pattern soon,
get that one started.
Well I think that about catches us up. Hope you enjoyed the cabin pictures.
