July 18

Mike and the kids went to the bow shop today, they were gone most of the day. He started on the siding this evening.

After I took the siding photo, I went over and sat at the picnic table with Mike. We got a little visitor.
I grabbed the camera hoping I could catch a quick photo. I'm so glad they turned out. Awwwww......pretty.

July 16

Today was finally the day. Concrete day that is! This is going to be our *finished* floor. Mike wants to have a polished look to it, so we need to wait 4 weeks for him to be able to bring the polishing machine in. I think it will be a neat look. I know it will be a great floor for any messes that we will make in there. I don't have to worry about glue, paint or etc.....

As I'm posting this Mike is measuring the walls to order the siding..scratch that, he just came in and told me it's ordered now and will be delivered tomorrow morning. YAY!!! Last night he cut the windows and slider openings, we're still hoping to get this thing done before school starts:) It's kinda rough looking now, but it's gonna be a beauty.  More later...

July 11

It's hot! I mean really hot. It's 7:20 p.m. and it's still 99 outside. I'm not a girl that like's the heat. At ALL....period! The kids have been swimming at Brian's and the rest of the time we stay in with the a/c running. I even lost a couple of games of Scrabble :) I've made dinner in the morning and then we don't have to heat up the house in the afternoon when it's 106. Just reheat. I'm still working on the upcoming school years lesson plans. I always start with a master plan and change whatever doesn't work out. This will be our families 16th year?(really?)homeschooling. The first day of school will be here before we know it. Brian sent one of his cement guys today to frame up the garage floor. I think Mike said they going to do the cement work on Friday. Once the floor is raised 4" then we(I say we, like I'm actually going to do something)can really get started. I hope to have as much done as possible before we start school. If the work on the floor is done Friday I'll post the pictures. Until then we don't plan on a whole lot of anything until the heat wave is over.

July 8

Eeeeeek! We got to go to our first quilt show today. It was really neat to see these pieces of art on display. But it was also a conformation that we can soooo do this. We have had nothing to compare our work to. I always questioned my ability, in color/fabric selection, my piecing and matching seams. And Mike was wondering... What another quilters long arm work looks like ? So all in all. I think we feel pretty good. It really was fun. There were so many different styles and personalities shown. I feel so inspired!!! Now, everyone....Let's get quilting. Yeah, I know, stop being a dork....Sorry.

July 6

Today was a fun day. Mike and I had our first "business" meeting.*wink*
Since we got the long arm quilting machine last spring, Mike has been saying we should really think about doing this as a business. So today our family friend Ms.Rossi and her sewing/quilting buddy came up to the house. She had asked us if we would be interested in doing long arm quilting for them and their church bazaars. They get lots of quilt top donations, but these still need to be finished. This is where the long arming is used to sandwich the top/batting/backing together. How could we pass this up. It sounds like "sew" much fun.*smile*. Mike is really excited to possibly get more business from this adventure. It's so neat to have this machine and now he's able to share what he can do!

July 5

This is our "Dear friend Sara" from next door. We were playing jump rope. She wanted to pass on her *super* jump rope skills to the kids before she leaves for college in the fall. The kids love you Sara and will miss you when you leave for school......especially Kevin*wink*wink*
